The first time I read this poem it punched me right in the chest… it reminded me of my mom and I remember hoping and praying that she had found something to do with all her free time so she could live a life without drugs and alcohol… she now has 3 years and 4 months clean
again this poem is by my grandmother whom I like to call Gammy
~ FREE TIME ~
I drank my last drink and I popped my last pill,
Completely dried out, but I’m craving it still.
I gave it all up, left my vices behind,
But what can I do, with all this free time?
I regret the time wasted and the family I knew,
Long gone in the struggle, as my neediness grew.
I wasted my money, squandered every last dime,
Now what can I do, with all this free time?
The time that it took, for me to get here,
Used up most of my life, while I was dodging the fear,
Of living my life, by my own design,
Now I’m clean and I’m straight, with all this free time.
I’m clear as a bell, now that I’ve left that hell,
My own personal prison, my own personal cell.
A free man at last, from the life I declined,
Left with hours and hours, of all this free time.
Too many’s the time, I just sat down and cried,
For the people I’ve cheated and for all of those lies.
While clutching my bottle, of red table wine,
I’d try hard to remember, my life’s happier times.
The fine friends I had, my dear family too,
Tried to hold on, to the man they once knew,
But they lost their grip, when I crossed that line,
Staggering into a world, devoid of all time.
I left who I was and became someone else,
Lost in the maze, I made for myself.
Wandering through it, time after time.
Too drunk to follow, the path that was mine,
Then someone stepped in and showed me the way,
I don’t recall who, or what happened that day,
But whoever it was, left before I could find,
Something to do… with all this free time.COPYRIGHT©2002 BONNIE TORRENTE
Wednesday’s Weekly Poetry Reading
A story about my Uncle Corey and his best friend his dog Buck. Its very funny and its a TRUE story…
“The Dog Who Begged For A Shave”
There once was a puppy who longed for a home,
And today was his lucky day.
A mother went shopping for just such a pup,
So she bought him and they drove away.
He lived a good life with Mom and her sons,
As they grew and so did he,
But the difference in age made him an old man,
To the dismay of his family of three.
On this day, the young Son was worrying,
Gray whiskers, covered the dogs face.
He cried at the thought of him dying,
Because no other, could take this dogs place.
He looked at the dog who was aging,
And thought, “now I have to be brave”,
So he took out his razor and called his old friend,
And proceeded to give him a shave!
When Mom came home from a hard days work,
The Son had a gleam in his eye.
Mom, Guess what I did for our little friend?
Hoping our fourth family member wouldn’t die.
So this is a story of my Son and his dog,
And the simple explanation he gave.
“Each time when I looked into his eyes,
He was just begging me for a shave”!

Tuesday’s Topic of the Day
Well my Husband Jon and I found out yesterday that I am pregnant(YAY!) We have been Not trying and Not preventing for a very long time now… We figured that our babies would come when they were ready… I guess they’re ready to start coming hehe. I dont know any of the details yet, but my SIL Stephanie and some of my friends have estimated a due date of June 19-22 of 2007… its a good month for Jon and I being that we were married on June 17th so now that month will be even more special to us. I am so excited that I am going to be a Mommy! Everyone is excited for us and has shown us tremendous support and you have no idea how much it means to us. Jon is the happiest man ever right now… he didnt even get THAT excited about our wedding but you should see the sparkle in that man’s eyes this morning… he is so happy that I am making him a Daddy… he keeps calling me Mamma he said I need to get used to it because it is my new name! LoL! He even woke me up in the middle of the night to tell me “I love you Mamma”… He is going to be a wonderful Daddy, he is so happy that we are going to be having a baby and I am so glad that I am able to give him this amazingly wonderful gift of his very own child to love and adore. This morning we were watching CMT and a video came on where this little boy was throwing rocks into a lake with his dad and Jon told me “LOOK Mamma! Thats gonna be ME!!!” and when a baby commercial came on he said “awwwww! we’re gonna have one of those!” This all seems so surreal… I keep reminding myself and all but it still just doesnt seem like its really really true… it seems like a dream… a wonderful wonderful dream that I would never want to wake up from… I’ve been wanting this since I was little and when I met Jon I wanted it even more to be able to have his baby and now its happening… Yesterday was the best day of my life… that is until the baby is in my arms of course… I cant wait! Thank you all again for being so supportive and for being happy for Jon and I… it means more than you know! I’M GOING TO BE A MOMMY!!!!
Stephanie: I read your blog this morning and I wanted to let you know that you dont need to explain to me why you felt the way you did last night… I knew it would be a little tough for you to take knowing that I am having the first baby and I’m really sorry if maybe I was insensitive about the way I told you… I was just really excited and I wanted you to be one of the first people that knew… you have been one of my very best friends in the past few months with us talking all the time about everything and I was excited for you to know that you are going to become an auntie. I hope you get pregnant really soon so we can have our babies around the same time! I love you Lil Sis!! You are Amazing!

Talor Swift- Tim McGraw
You said the way my blue eyes shined,
Put those Georgia stars to shame that night
I said: “That’s a lie”
Just a boy in a Chevy truck,
That had a tendency of gettin’ stuck,
On backroads at night
An’ I was right there beside him all summer long
An’ then the time we woke up to find that summer’d gone
But when you think: Tim McGraw,
I hope you think my favorite song
The one we danced to all night long:
The moon like a spotlight on the lake
When you think happiness,
I hope you think: “That little black dress”
Think of my head on your chest,
An’ my old faded blue jeans
When you think Tim McGraw,
I hope you think of me
September saw a month of tears,
An’ thankin’ God that you weren’t here,
To see me like that
But in a box beneath my bed,
Is a letter that you never read,
From three summers back
It’s hard not to find it all a little bitter sweet,
An’ lookin’ back on all of that, it’s nice to believe:
When you think: Tim McGraw,
I hope you think my favorite song
The one we danced to all night long:
The moon like a spotlight on the lake
When you think happiness,
I hope you think: “That little black dress”
Think of my head on your chest,
An’ my old faded blue jeans
When you think Tim McGraw,
I hope you think of me
And I’m back for the first time since then:
I’m standin’ on your street,
An’ there’s a letter left on your doorstep,
An’ the first thing that you’ll read:
Is: “When you think: Tim McGraw,
“I hope you think my favorite song”
Some day you’ll turn your radio on,
I hope it takes you back to that place
When you think happiness,
I hope you think: “That little black dress”
Think of my head on your chest,
An’ my old faded blue jeans
When you think Tim McGraw,
I hope you think of me
Oh, think of me,
Mmmm
You said the way my blue eyes shined,
Put those Georgia stars to shame that night
I said: “That’s a lie”

Wednesday Weekly Poetry Reading
Okay sorry I havent been updating this lately I’ve had a lot of stuff going on around me and a lot of things have been taking all of my attention… but I am back now and I SHOULD be able to post blogs everyday, I am hoping anyway.
This Poem is again by my Gammy… a lot of my Weekly Wednesday Poetry Readings will be by her because she is my absolute favorite Poet. I love the way she looks at the world she sees everything in such a beautiful light… I hope that one day when I’m all grown up with babies of my own I can see the world through her eyes. I am very happy to share her beautiful words with you so you can see what I mean.
“THE WOMAN IN ME”
I am a Mother, don’t ask me my name,
I’m just one of millions, created the same.
I give you life, I nurture your soul,
For I am a Mother and this is my role.
I am a daughter, don’t ask me my name,
I’m just one of millions, created the same.
I bear the traits, of the Mother who bore me,
For I am the daughter, of the woman before me.
I am a grandmother, don’t ask me my name,
I’m just one of millions, created the same.
I’ve pushed past the bondage, for my right to be me,
For I am a grandmother, liberated and free.
I am a wife, don’t ask me my name,
I’m just one of millions, created the same.
I give you support, all the love you require,
For I am a wife, I give all you desire.
I am a sister, don’t ask me my name,
I’m just one of millions, created the same.
I fight to be equal, amongst one another,
For I am a sister and you are my brother
I am a woman, don’t ask me my name,
I’m just one of millions, created the same.
I wear many faces, fulfill many needs,
For I am a woman and this is my creed.
