Wenesday Weekly Poetry Reading
This is a Poem that my Gammy wrote when I found my Biological Dad.. she wrote it from my Dad’s point of view… its a very special poem to me.
~ Time and Circumstance ~
I’ve lived my life just like I want, I know I’ve hurt a few,
Done some things I shouldn’t have, some things I can’t undo.
Life was good, life was bad, lived by my own design,
Proof of who I was, the loudest roar, controlling kind.
I now regret my actions, as my youth begins to fade,
Wishing I could heal the hearts, of those I made afraid.
Yearning to be more of what a man’s supposed to be,
Searching for the core of all that’s good, inside of me.
Hence, a small voice called, across the miles into my heart,
Searching through the wire, for a crucial missing part.
A father for a daughter, time and circumstance ago,
Neither she nor I existed, for these twenty years, or so…
Unbeknownst, a firstborn, living, breathing, growing dear,
Unbeknownst, a Daddy’s stolen love, for all those years.
My goodness is returned to me, in eyes reflecting mine,
In love and adoration, daughter- father smiles combined.
My challenge is to parent a young woman, fully grown,
So much like me I can’t deny, she is my very own.
Her courage, her tenacity, rewarded me a chance,
To share the love created…in time and circumstance.
